Cisco cloud to be 183 million U.S. dollars acquisition of security firm ScanSafe



October 28, according to foreign media reports, Cisco Systems said on Tuesday that it plans to use about 183 million U.S. dollars acquisition of private Web-based security software company ScanSafe. This all cash transaction is expected close to the January 2010 fiscal year second quarter. The deal also includes incentives to retain staff.

ScanSafe is a cloud-based software service that allows users to purchase the required license application. Cloud-based services can help customers save costs, because users do not have to buy their own software licenses and management of the software application.

Cisco said, ScanSafe's technology will help Cisco expand its acquisition of IronPort in 2007, when the increase in capacity. Cisco also plans to integrate ScanSafe's services to their AnyConnect VPN client products to provide a secure mobile solution. Cisco's data center will use ScanSafe to provide a new cloud computing security service.

After a period of calm, Cisco has increased its takeover. This is Cisco's third acquisition this month announced that transaction. Two weeks ago, Cisco announced the acquisition of 2.9 billion U.S. dollars with wireless equipment vendors Starent Networks. Earlier this month, Cisco announced that Norway, with 30 billion purchase of video conferencing equipment maker Tandberg. Cisco CEO John Chambers said, Cisco is looking for more acquisitions.
